
68 companies completed our accident survey. The results showed that the overall Accident Incident Rate (AIR) has continued to decline sector-wide in 2025.
2025 saw a 4.6% improvement in Accident Incidence Rate (AIR) within the electrotechnical sector, while the AIR was 140% higher among self-employed operatives in comparison to those directly-employed.
The four main types of accidents were:
• Slips, trips and falls (27%),
• Contact with machinery (25%),
• Falls from heights (9%),
• Manual handling/lifting (7%),

In 2025 the JIB produced a Slips, Trips and Falls guide to help reduce accidents in the workplace. We are pleased to report that slips, trips and falls have fallen from 52% in 2024 to 27% in 2025. This forms part of our Member Toolkit designed to support your business.
