Accident Survey Shows Direct Employment as Safer Across Sector

In mid-2025, 91 companies completed our accident survey. The results showed that the overall Accident Incident Rate (AIR) has declined sector-wide in comparison to 2023.

The four main types of accidents were:
• Slips, trips and falls (52%),
• Falls from heights (20%),
• Manual handling/lifting (17%),
• Other incidents including contact with moving/falling objects and electric shock incidents (11%).

In response to data from previous surveys the JIB has produced a Slips, Trips and Falls guide to help reduce future accidents. This forms part of our Member Toolkit designed to support your business.
