Melanoma skin cancer is the fifth most common cancer in the UK accounting for 5% of all new cancer cases. When caught early melanoma is highly treatable so it is important to take steps if you notice anything of concern.
Direct employees of JIB Member Companies can access the remote skin cancer assessment service from Bupa UK as part of their JIB Benefits. This allows you to check moles or skin lesions from the safety of your home.
How it Works
You can use the My Bupa app or website to contact the dermatology team and arrange for a Remote Skin Assessment. A dermatologist will determine whether this assessment is suitable for you before sending out a kit.
The kit takes one working day to arrive (if ordered before 2pm) and requires an individual to take high-resolution photos of their mole or skin lesion using the smartphone and dermatoscopic lens provided.
Once done you send the kit back and a dermatologist will review the photos, alongside your medical history. Results are usually available within 2 working days.

Case Study
“I recommend using Bupa’s remote skin cancer assessment. I had 3 moles that I thought were of most concern, and used the kit to take 2 pictures of each mole, one close-up and one at a distance so you could see what part of the body it was located on. It took only 10 minutes to complete.
My diagnosis came back negative, so no further treatment was needed. The assessment is convenient and gives you peace of mind with a really quick turnaround.
Being part of a JIB Member Company, I always thought the health cover was a real benefit and would strongly urge other employees to take advantage of the service.” – John Tandy, Electrical Engineer Cass Electric
