On 26 June Andy Reakes, JIB Acting CEO and Roger Horne, JIB Head of Membership attended a Data Centre Skills Roundtable hosted by the ECA and BESA Group.
The event brought together leading data centre contractors, training providers and industry bodies with representatives from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, Department for Business and Trade, Department of Work and Pensions and Skills England. Discussions focused on how to ensure there is workforce capacity to meet the UK’s investment in building data centres.
It is vital that the increased demand for electrical skills does not compromise safety and competency standards. The JIB participates in industry discussions about skills shortages and competence to stress the need for training and upskilling of competent electrical operatives. This forms part of our work to engage with government and industry partners to represent the interests of our members and ensure the sector has a qualified workforce capable of meeting future demand.
