Getting the most from the Benefits Scheme

The JIB Benefits Scheme

The Scheme

Employee benefits can have a positive effect on company productivity and morale, while health insurance can reduce the impact of sickness absence on the bottom line. What’s more, providing a benefit such as private medical insurance can help with the acquisition and retention of staff, helping employees feel valued and motivated.

As part of one of the largest group of its kind paying into a bespoke Benefit Scheme, JIB health cover and personal insurance rates are £14.70 per employee per week and 50 pence per week for apprentices (2016 rates).

  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Health Screening
  • JIB sick pay cover
  • Death Benefit
  • Accidental Death Benefit
  • Permanent and Total Disability Benefit
  • Employee Assistance Helpline

Who can join the scheme?

It is a condition of JIB company membership that all qualified operatives and apprentices are provided with the employee benefits specified in the latest edition of the JIB Handbook. Employers can fulfil this obligation through participating in the JIB Benefits Scheme, administered by EC Insurance Services Ltd (ECIS).

Registering your staff into the scheme

As a new member  your details will be passed on to Electrical Contractors Insurance Services Ltd (ECIS), who operate the Scheme on behalf of the JIB. ECIS will contact you to get you started using their online administration system ECIS Canopy. Payment is monthly by Direct Debit.

When you take on new staff or people leave, simply notify ECIS using the ECIS Canopy Portal and your payments will be adjusted accordingly.

For more information on the Scheme and ECIS please visit the ECIS website

Make sure your staff are aware of the benefits

To gain full benefit from the scheme it's important that your operatives are also fully aware of the benefits that are available to them.

Physioline

JIB members and operatives can benefit from a ‘Physioline’ service from Bupa to help manage musculoskeletal conditions.

Operatives working for JIB member companies who have a problem with their back, joints or muscles can access specialist advice and treatment directly through Bupa, without the need for a GP referral. This can lead to a telephone assessment with a qualified physiotherapist who can advise on self-help exercises to aid recovery, or a referral if face-to-face treatment is required.

Contact the ECIS Benefits Team on 0330 221 0240 for more information on Physioline. To make a claim, please contact Bupa directly on 0345 6060802.
