Taking care of you at work

Taking care of you at work

The JIB has partnered with Constructing Better Health (CBH) in order to ensure that electrical workers in our members' supply chains do not suffer any detrimental effects on their health while carrying out their daily work on site. The partnership exists to safeguard you and your health.

Risk assessment

Your employer is required by law to undertake risk assessments to identify work related health threats that might affect you. CBH provides employers with a useful matrix, which helps them to identify the relevant health checks regarding both your job role and related health risk. So if you feel that there is something in your daily work that could or does affect your health in a negative way, then the health checks will identify it and provide recommendations on how to protect your health.

Health checks

At this point your employer will engage with a suitable Occupational Health Service Provider (OHSP) that is accredited with CBH, who can carry will be qualified to carry out the relevant health checks.

How does Occupational Health differ from general health plans like Bupa?

Occupational health checks are very different from the ones carried out by Bupa or similar organisations as these focus on general health and do not target work-related health risks.

The CBH also aims to raise awareness of health issues including:-

  • Hand arm vibration
  • Noise
  • Skin problems
  • Respiratory issues
  • Musculoskeletal Disorders
  • Stress
