Industrial Information Service
The JIB Industrial Information Service provides a facility where employment agencies and other bodies who are not electrical contracting firms can obtain verification of gradings for electrical operatives who hold a JIB Grade or who are members of the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS).
Due to the Data Protection Act 1998, only current ECS card holders who have signed the consent form will be included on the Industrial Information Service.
Registration
In order to participate in the service, applicants will have to register with the JIB and pay an monthly subscription fee. When an organisation first joins the service they will be allocated a subscription number. The company name, address and telephone number will also be added to the list of Industrial Information Subscribers on this website.
If an organisation wishes to access the service at more than one branch or office, then each separate branch or office has to be registered and a separate subscription fee paid for each. Download the subscription form.
Operation
The information available will include JIB grade, membership of the ECS, main and additional disciplines in which the operative is registered and other additional qualifications held. Searches will be possible by National Insurance number and name - with the date of birth being available as a validation check.
The JIB Industrial Information Service is now available in the form of a secure website: www.jibiis.org.uk
This means any PC with internet access can view the service. Users who wish to access the service need to contact the JIB in order to be issued with a user name and password. A USB Dongle is attached to a USB port of at least one workstation accessing the Service.
Conditions of operation
The service will require the minimum of a web enabled PC with a Pentium processor, 64Mb of memory running a Windows operating system, an SVGA display capable of at least 256 colours at a resolution of 800x600 or higher.
