JIB Grading Definitions - Labourer Grade

Labourers may be employed to assist in the installation of cables in accordance with Section 5.1 - Cable Agreement: and to do other unskilled work under supervision provided that they should not be used to re-introduce pair working. Nothing in these rules should be taken to imply that labourers must be employed where there is not sufficient unskilled work to justify their employment, nor to prevent skilled men from doing a complete electrical installation job including the unskilled elements in these circumstances. On any Site at any time there shall be employed in total no more than one labourer to four skilled JIB Graded Operatives. This particular requirement may be reviewed in the light of the particular circumstances in respect of a particular site upon application, by either Party to the appropriate Regional Joint Industry Board.
