Further Education fund

Providing financial help with your training

The JIB’s FE Fund provides financial assistance for individuals wishing to undertake further education or training in the electrical contracting industry.

“The JIB Further Education Fund has provided me with funding for the last three years through a Business & Management HNC up to the HND course. The committee's support has enabled my career to move forward at an exponential rate, I would encourage all members of the electrical industry who are looking to further their career to take full advantage of what the JIB are offering and to know no boundaries.”

Clint Cottee, MA Broughton Electrical Contractors

Who qualifies?

To qualify, applicants must be working directly for a JIB member company and be participating in the Combined Benefits Scheme or be an apprentice.

However, applicants will not be debarred from applying if their employer has not registered them for whatever reason if they are eligible. Funding will also be open to anybody who wishes to undertake a study in the electrical contracting industry which will be of benefit to the Industry as a whole.

The application must be made by an individual, rather than an employer on the individual’s behalf.

Applications must be for courses over and above what is required under the JIB grading structure. For example, funding apprentices for the AM2 or adults for the City & Guilds 2391 will not be entertained as these are requirements of grading. Courses which are not covered for funding can be found here.

How to apply for FE funding

The FE Fund works on a fee reimbursement basis so as to ensure the funding is spent on training that is seen through to full completion. On occasions, the JIB will pay funds directly to a college or training centre.

Applicants should complete an application form, which is available from the JIB or by download here. Completed forms must be returned by post to the JIB offices and accompanied by the receipt and proof of the cost of the course.

Funding is also available from the Electrical Contractors’ Association. Further details about the ECA’s training fund and the JIB’s FE fund can be found in this leaflet.
