New logo for JIB members
Europe learns from 'role model' JIB
Great value dental plan available
Use of employment businesses
Look out for a new pack about to be sent to every member company encouraging them to promote their JIB membership.
Why? Because membership of the JIB helps define the kind of company you run. It can tell your customers a lot about how you look after your staff and their training, and about the quality of your work. What’s more, clients recognise that a fair approach to employment matters is a good indication of the way a company operates and conducts every aspect of its business.
In the pack you'll find a sample of a new van decal and hard hat sticker, how to order more and guideline copy promoting the value of your JIB membership for use on websites, leaflets and other advertising material. A guide to getting the most from the new JIB website is also enclosed.
The pack officially launches the new JIB member company logo, also available from the website, with its strap line – the mark of a good employer.
“We’ve developed the universally-known JIB logo, recognising what it means to be a JIB member company,” said Steve Brawley, JIB chief executive. “We recommend that every member company downloads the logo and uses it on their stationery and promotional material to reinforce the added value membership brings.”
Europe learns from 'role model' JIB
The JIB visited Bulgaria this month after being asked to share best practice with other countries that are looking to improve industrial relations and dispute resolution processes.
The trip was part of a wider project that has involved representatives from Poland, France and Bulgaria working together to share experiences in dispute resolution, with the JIB taking a lead role thanks to its solid reputation and impressive success rate in mediation.
At the conference, Senior National Officer Sheik Khan stood before an audience that included Bulgarian government officials to outline the JIB’s model of alternative dispute resolution and how we help employees and employers come together during conflict to find a mutually agreeable way forward.
“The General Federation of Trade Unions asked the JIB to participate in the project and act as a role model due to its excellent processes and success rates,” said Sheik Khan. “We were delighted to help and, after hearing from our European partners, were proud to discover that the electrical industry is clearly advanced in our industrial relations procedures. This is a great reflection on our industry and JIB members.”
The project is now hoping to widen its scope to include partners from Belgium and Finland.
Great value dental plan available
Don’t forget that all staff working for JIB member companies can take advantage of a BUPA dental insurance plan that is affordable and better value for money than you can find in the market.
The plan, available via the Electrical Contracting Industry Benefits Agency (ECIBA), offers five different levels of cover to suit all individual needs – including full refunds on NHS dentistry; up to two examinations a year, scale and polish, fillings and x-rays. Options are available for individuals, couples or families and cover starts from just £9.32 per month.
Please inform your staff about this opportunity – if you or they need any further information on the plan please email Linda Taylor at the ECIBA or call 08450 343 200
Please remember that JIB member companies must use employment agencies which subscribe to the JIB’s Industrial Information Service. This ensures that each operative provided to you holds a valid ECS card.
The employment businesses who subscribe to the service are listed on the JIB website.
